There is a wide range of prices for NFL jerseys, and it pays to know how, why and where the prices vary, what you want to buy and where you should get it at the cheapest price. If you’re looking for a cheap NFL Jersey you need to know a few things.

There are a number of different types of NFL jerseys. Authentic NFL jerseys are generally the most expensive and can be the most sought after, but will be of good quality.

An authentic NFL jersey should be as good quality as you would find in the jerseys worn by the NFL players themselves. They are a heavyweight fabric and have all the graphics sewn on, including the numbers, and should last for years. You can also get authentic customized NFL jerseys. You select the name and number of the NFL player you want on the jersey and this is custom ordered for you exactly how you want it. A premier jersey is made of lighter material and is usually nylon/polyester. It as sewn on numbers and names but doesn’t have the same quality of material as an authentic jersey. It should look just as good as an authentic jersey, but is made cheaper. A good option if you want an authentic jersey but just can’t afford it.

And cheaper again is a replica NFL jersey. These jerseys are made from thinner fabrics so won’t last as well as the more expensive authentic jerseys, but are much cheaper. The graphics and numbers are not sewn on but are screen printed instead, a cheaper process.

A good authentic NFL jersey isn’t cheap, but there are ways to get cheap authentic NFL jerseys if you know where to look online.  However you can pay up to $300 in some offline stores, so if the cost of buying an authentic NFL jersey is a problem for you then you need to spend a little time online. There are always better options when it comes to buying NFL products online, and if you know where to look you’ll pick up a great authentic NFL jersey online at a price that might rival a cheap replica jersey in an offline store.

Happy searching and enjoy your NFL jersey when you get it. Be proud of it.

Tips for Skydiving You Can’t Afford to Ignore

Extreme sports are called extreme for a reason: they push you to your physical and mental limits in terms of exertion and strength. They are also often more dangerous than your average game of football. But the thrill and the uniqueness of such sports is like no other. That being said, one such extreme sport that challenges an individual’s sense of fear, at the same time fulfills an elemental dream of man (to fly), is skydiving.

Skydiving isn’t just falling out of a plane with a parachute on. It’s more like “falling with style” where an exact science and technique goes into the jumping, deployment of the parachute and landing. Agreed it is not the safest of sports but the occurrence of fatalities while skydiving has been greatly exaggerated, with a fatality rate of 0.0001% or approximately 1 death in every 100,000 jumps. However, it is better to be safe than to be sorry, so below are some safety tips for skydiving, to make each jump a safe experience.

Safety Tips and Advice for Skydiving
Safety is not just the technique or method of jumping but rather is made up of a number of factors listed below.

Jumpsuits are meant to keep your body warm and protected against the frigid, cold air at high altitudes. They are also durable enough to prevent scratches and bumps on landing. However, depending on what form of skydiving and your expertise level, the material of the jumpsuit differs. So consult with your trainer or an experienced jumper as to what jumpsuit best suits your skydiving style. Do not experiment on your own.
Check your jumpsuit for holes or tears. Make sure it fits properly and there is no way for air to enter it. Always try on the suit prior to jumping well in advance, to ensure it is in good condition.
Wear a helmet when skydiving. No jump is 100% risk-free and a helmet can go a long way in minimizing injury. Make sure your helmet is open faced but protective and sturdy. Check its shock absorption factor. It should fit your head and not feel heavy or very large or too small and tight. Do not take it off at any time during the jump.
Goggles are not mandatory but are an extra safety measure to protect one’s eyes during the descent. Gloves should only be worn if you are comfortable using your equipment with them on. Wear durable shoes with firm soles and grip, such that during the descent, you can touch the ground without causing any harm to your feet. Make sure all such attire is comfortable and will not hinder you during your jump.

The altimeter is a specialized piece of equipment that measures your height above the level of the ground and can also predict your speed of falling. You can opt for a visual one, which should be worn on the wrist or the front of the torso. Check the visibility of the display, its durability, analog or digital display and ability to measure pressure. You could go in for an audio altimeter that is worn inside your helmet and will inform you of the decrease in altitude as you fall. These altimeters have pre-set alarms that indicate when you should deploy your parachute.
An Automatic Activation Device (AAD) is a must have and any proper school, training institute and instructor will advise you of the importance of this piece of equipment. This device is a small computer that keeps an eye on your height above the ground and how fast you are descending. It calculates the optimum height when the parachute should be deployed for a safe landing and if you, the jumper, fail to do so at the right time and height, the AAD will open the chute for you. The AAD is a lifesaver and calibrating it on the ground, checking its functioning prior to a jump and buying a good model is your way of ensuring a safe jump.
Your parachute is connected to you by a harness. Make sure your harness fits you properly and is sturdy and tough, without any wear and tear. Have a supervisor or instructor check your harness prior to a jump. Keep a hook knife on you, any time that you skyjump. In case of an emergency, where the main part of the parachute (canopy) will not open, use the hook knife to cut it away.
Do not compromise on the quality of your skydiving equipment and making any changes or tweaks in them should only be done if sanctioned by an instructor or recognized expert in your skydiving team or class. Maintain such equipment in good condition.

Be informed about the skydiving process. Ask a lot of questions and do not choose the first skydiving school or institute you see. Instead, visit different schools or go for a demo class on the ground, talk to instructors and ex-students on your own. Check the licensing of the school, what safety programs and measures are implemented and check the school’s skydiving history, with respect to fatalities.
Do not be too enthusiastic or overexcited to jump. Choose the right skydiving style based on your experience. For new jumpers, it is best to opt for the tandem style of skydiving where the instructor and you have the same chute and he/she controls the diving experience. Until you have experience or until your trainer feels you are ready, do not jump on your own.
Prior to a jump, whether for the first time or the umpteenth time, eat a light meal. Check your equipment and pack your parachute under the watchful eye of your instructor.

For first time sky jumpers, along with ensuring physical safety prior and during your sky jump, your mental attitude should be strengthened and prepared for the experience. However, as your skydiving experience builds up, you can ignore safety procedures and become careless and this can turn dangerous, not only for you but for your fellow jumpers as well. Keep safety first and jump with ease, by making sure all safety checks and procedures have been carried out well in advance.

Football coaching tips

Talking recently to a number of new soccer coaches who were taking training sessions for the first time, it was interesting to note how many of them were worried by it and wondering how to handle training Under-5s or Under-6s. The following fun football training games and drills are an ideal solution to their dilemma as they are brilliant for coaching soccer skills and keeping youngsters keen.

At this age, drills that involve lining up in queues, waiting to kick a ball are not very educational or entertaining and this is usually when the bad behaviour kicks off and boredom kicks in. These three fun games are designed to keep all your players busy and active.

Game one: Sharks and minnows

In this game, one player is the defender in the square – the shark – and the rest – the minnows – line up along the line with a ball. The kids have to dribble to the other side.

  • The shark has to win any of the balls and kick it out of the square. The minnows that make it to the other side must wait until everyone has either got across or their balls have been kicked out. The ones whose balls are kicked out become sharks.
  • Each round becomes more difficult.

Key soccer skills: Ball holding, shielding, speed, individual skills tackling.

Game two: End-of-line soccer

This game can be played like 4v4, but the idea is to pass the ball so one of the team’s players can stop the ball on the line at the end they are attacking.

  • Players must be fully in control of the ball when they stop it or it doesn’t count.
  • Players cannot kick it past the line and claim a goal.

Key soccer skills: Passing, teamwork, individual skills to lose opponents, ball control, ability to stop ball.

Game three: Knock down the cones

Play this also as a 4v4. Set up two lines of cones at either end of the pitch. Each team has to knock the other team’s cones over.

  • The team that knocks the opposition’s cones over first is the winner.
  • In this game, players must use space and turning skills to lose their markers and create opportunities to knock the cones over.

Key soccer skills: Passing, teamwork, individual skills to lose opponents, accurate shooting.

Ice Skating Tips and Techniques

Ice skating enthusiasts use skates with steel blades to slide on the ice. The first ice skates were made in 3000 BC. Honed animal bone was used in making these skates, and it was attached to the shoes with leather straps. In fact, the origin of the word ‘skates’ is Dutch. They used to call it ‘schaats’, which means ‘leg bone’. Iron blades were first made and used in Holland, in 1250 AD. It garnered popularity as a winter sport among the Europeans in the 17th century. The International Skating Union is the authoritative body governing the sport, and oversees all the international ice skating competitions.

The Beginner’s Guide to Ice Skating
Always get an expert coach to assist you with the basics. A good coach helps minimize the risks involved, and also ensures you learn the correct way of skating. It is important to understand that ice skating doesn’t come naturally to everyone. A beginner has to learn it by getting used to the ice rink. It is a safe option to rent the skates initially, and get acquainted with this sport. If you remain interested in the sport, it is best to buy your own pair with a proper fit.

Tips For Beginners
Ice skating looks graceful and easy, but is a very strenuous sport. Beginners may suffer from sore muscles after the first couple of skating sessions. However, this is a normal phenomenon, and after a few practice sessions, the muscles will get stronger and the pain will recede. It is also important to relax and avoid locking your knees. Remember that ice skating is a graceful sport! The knees should be bent to avoid falling or tripping backwards.

Patience and determined efforts are necessary to master this sport. Initially, many people find it difficult to find their balance on the skates. The time taken to get used to using them is different for each individual. Learning the first moves can always be crude, but never get discouraged. Regular practice will ensure gradual, graceful, and deft movement.

The most important aspect of mastering this sport, is learning how to fall. In fact, it is sort of a ‘requirement’ when getting used to it. There are certain ways in which you can minimize chances of an injury while falling. Preferably, use the best quality equipment or protective gear, which consists of a helmet and pads for the wrists, knees, elbows, hips, and tailbone.
When falling forward, keep your chin up; and when falling backward, press your chin into your chest. Relax your body as much as possible, because a stiff body is more likely to get injured than a limp one.
Try not to let your knees, elbows, or wrists hit the ice surface first. Try to land on your bottom, and tuck your arms in while falling, to avoid getting run over by the other skaters.
If you are using an outdoor surface, make sure it’s hard enough to avoid falling through the ice, especially on frozen lakes or ponds. Professional guidance is a must.
Another important area to master for a novice, is how to stop. A simple snowplow stop involves skating forward, pushing the legs apart away from each other. This should be done by bending in your knees and leaning back slightly. The shoulders should be straight, facing forward, and the arms outstretched.

Marching on the ice surface before gliding is a good way to learn balance and to gain familiarity with the skating surface. Start gliding after familiarizing with the conditions by mastering the two-foot glider first. Stand away from the edges of the rink or obstacles in order to avoid getting hit, and also try to learn without support. Once you balance yourself on your knees, move your right foot forward and keep your left foot at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to the right one. Slowly, begin to move forward by slightly bending in the knees, and moving the left shoulder ahead, followed by the right, and so on. Once two-foot gliding is learned, start with stroking, by starting with short and quick gliding sessions.

The swizzle involves propelling forward without lifting your feet. The toes point outwards and heels are together. Slide the feet apart, and then bring the toes in together. The motion should replicate the design of an hourglass.

Linebackers Tips Are Pure Golden

Offense is the best form of defense they say. But all said and done, in a game of football or any other sport, like soccer or hockey, neither the offensive or the defensive flank is irreplaceable. Here, offense can perhaps be a good defense tactic, but it is no substitute for actual defense. Take for example the defensive flank in football. Linebackers are the support system for the defensive linemen. Without these linebackers, a team cannot defend to the best of its abilities, and however great the attack, it would be nullified.

The Role of a Linebacker
American football connoisseurs, I am sure, will know what the role of a linebacker in a team is. Primarily, they are a part of the defensive flank, and are positioned behind the defensive linemen, approximately 4 meters behind the line of scrimmage. There are 2 main types of linebackers―outside and middle linebackers.

Outside Linebacker
Strongside and weakside linebackers are two types within the outside linebacker position. The strongside linebacker normally lines up from across the tight end. He has to possess the capacity to shed, fight off, and withstand blocks from a tight end or a fullback blocking the back of a pass play. On the other hand, a weakside linebacker typically chases the play from the backside. This player, therefore, has to have the ability to maneuver through traffic.

Middle Linebacker
It is a ‘Mike’ in football terms, as the middle linebacker is called. He is also referred to as the quarterback of the defense. He is undoubtedly the most skilled and important player amongst the linebackers. This is the player who gets the defensive play call from the sidelines. He then relays the strategy to the whole team. In games where there is a standard defense formation, these players are in charge of the team, when it comes to tackles.

Useful Tips
Becoming the best in what you do, be it a linebacker or a pianist, does not happen overnight. It takes consistent efforts to reach a level of expertise, especially in sports like football.

Tip #1
The key to performing well as a linebacker is to be in good shape. By shape, here, I mean fitness and health. So the first tip is that, during off-season training periods, speed and ladder drills, and jump roping are essential to develop pace and agility in your moves.

Tip #2
A linebacker, especially the middle linebacker, has to know the defensive signals, adjustments, and plays for his team. He has to quickly analyze and know what the players need do for each play. Spending extra time with the coach, and going over signals and adjustments is a good way to be completely prepared on that front. Memorizing scouting reports and close scrutiny of key opponents is yet task he needs to do.

Tip #3
Another tip for linebackers is to work on tackling. Practicing in getting low and then driving through the player will help. For improving vision, study plays and become a student of the game. This is useful for outside linebackers as well!

Tip #4
Following a nutritious diet and working out is essential for enhancing the strength of the core muscles used in performing the function of a linebacker. A diet is needed which will give the player some bulk and power, and at the same time keep him lean.

Surfing Injuries Part II

As discussed in my previous article, living and working in Southern California has its perks. It is the perfect climate for those people who enjoy outdoor activities and surfing is one of the most popular. In the first article of this series, I covered the neck and shoulders and the types of injuries a surfer might suffer from. Let’s work our way down the body.

Chest and Rib Knots

This type of injury is unique to surfers. Chest knots or “collagenomas” are fluid-filled lumps on the ribs and sternum that come from paddling in a paddling position while short-board surfing. Draining these lumps has proven ineffective. The best treatment available is the use of ice on the swollen area and some light stretching.

With the abuse that a surfer’s body can go through, rib injuries are very common. At any given time, there could be a bruised, strained, broken, or separated rib from surfing.  Some surfers who have high pain tolerances can push themselves too far and actually tear their ribs away from the cartilage that attaches them to the breastbone. This is called a costochondral separation. This type of injury can occur when the surfer pops up on their board or lands hard on their feet.

In the case of a rib injury, there will be pain and tenderness at the site of the injury. The person may also experience pain when they move, breathe, cough or laugh. Rest and ice for a few days will help with the selling and pain. Rib injuries do take some time to heal and could keep you out of the water for a while. Bruised ribs or costochondral separations can take 3 to 4 weeks to heal. Broken ribs take twice that and require treatment by a physician.

Low Back

The position a surfer is in as he or she paddles will often cause a spinal hyperextension in both the neck and lower back. Just think of the position that person is in as they try to see and paddle at the same time. Prolonged exposure to this can lead to a low back strain or a stress reaction of the vertebrae called “spondylolysis”. If this reaction is allowed to progress, it could cause a stress fracture in the lumbar (lower) spine. Chiropractic care can relieve the stress in the lower back, but if the pain is centered around the spine instead of the surrounding muscles, or if there is any pain shooting down the legs or into the groin, please seek medical care from a physician.

An important part of surfing, the hip flexor and surrounding muscles carry the load when surfers pop up on their boards and maneuver while riding a wave. Muscle strains in this area are common and could leave the surfer susceptible to further injury in the hip-socket. Without proper care and maintenance, it could lead to impingement, functional limitations and arthritis. Stretching can both prevent and rehabilitate these areas.

Hip Knots

Like the chest and rib knots listed above, these are associated with paddling on short-boards. These are also unique to surfers and ice and stretching are still the best treatments for this.

How to Plan a Summer Camp Program

If you are planning to organize a summer camp or if you are the camp’s coordinator, you need to have a good plan of action. The location has to be finalized. You have to plan whether the summer camp is going to be an overnight program or a day time program. If it is an overnight program, then thousands of things have to be taken into consideration. Right from accommodation, to the daily meals, everything has to be taken care of. If you are planning a day time program, then the transportation service has to be hired, volunteers are required, and what not. Moreover, the amount to be collected from participants has to be worked out. Once you settle down with planning such financial and administrative details, it’s time for some real action.
Children look forward to attending summer camps. They want to enjoy, learn new things, and make new friends of course! So, your summer camp planning decides whether the kids are going to enjoy it or not. You would want to put all your creative and fun quotient into making this summer camp, the most memorable ever for the participants, and if you are wondering how to plan a summer camp, this Buzzle article will help you make the camp more fun and interesting. A few factors listed below, other than the financial and the venue part, can ensure grand success of the summer camp. Keep reading.
Tips on How to Plan a Summer Camp Program

Summer Camp Themes: When you plan a summer camp, you ought to have a theme. A summer camp theme will brief the participants as to what the camp is going to be like. For example, you can have a swimming summer camp. Here the kids interested in swimming would join your camp. If you are planning a lot of games, you could call it the ‘adventure land’ or something like that. Moreover, an art camp would have a theme like ‘paint the world’, and so on.

Summer Camp Games:If the summer camp is going to be an overnight program, then you have to keep the kids occupied with various activities, other than the main activity (as in the theme). So plan interesting and fun games. You can have a scavenger hunt, sack race, relays, and so on. Games act as one of the best and simple relaxing techniques for kids. They also help kids gel with each other and develop an ability to work in a team.

Allot Free Time:Kids on the summer camp need to be on their own for sometime. Make sure you schedule for some free time for them. This time may be utilized to make new friends, or explore one’s self. You could even encourage them to pen down their thoughts about the summer camp, or maintain a diary about the daily activities. Care should be taken not to forcefully ask them to do certain things; let them be on their own, in case required, a few words of encouragement would do.

Counselors: When you plan a summer camp program, counselors and doctors ought to be there. A kid could feel homesick or may be depressed if he is not doing well at the camp. During such times, a doctor or a counselor can make the kid feel comfortable. Counselors can also play a major role in studying the behavioral patterns of the kids, thus helping the organizers in bringing out the best in a child and improving the quality of the summer camp organized.

A Special Day: Your summer camp program can have a special day. Like you could have a party or something, like an annual day in school. You can also have a cultural day or a talent day, where the children get to exhibit their culture or tradition they belong to, and at the same time, get to know about other cultures too. A talent day would mean every child has to exhibit the talent they possess, like playing the guitar, dancing, singing or painting.

Art Day: How about planning for an art day? Children can be taught origami, pottery, painting and drawing. You could even have the camp decorated in a way that the children want. You can even organize an exhibition to exhibit the various crafts made by kids, or how about having summer camp gratitude wall/ string. Collect all the crafts and drawings, and tape them on the wall or you could hang them on a string, using colorful clips.

Adventure Sports: The most interesting part of a summer camp is adventure sports! Plan for sports like rock climbing, river crossing, snorkeling, paragliding, etc. Now, of course you have to plan all of these under the supervision of experts, and organize for equipment required for these sports. Make sure you do not force a kid to undertake an activity he/she is scared of. However, encouraging words to boost the kid’s morale are always welcome. Even better, provide them with an option of undertaking the task with an adult, this might imbibe confidence in him/her to enjoy these sports.

Science and Nature:You can devote a day or two to science and nature activities. Like conduct certain experiments or go around the camp location finding the scientific names of trees. Make sure you make this activity fun and interesting, so that the kids do not complain about it being a study activity. Wordplay is a good idea; it is both educational and entertaining as well. Moreover, if a fun element is associated with certain things, kids tend to recollect it faster than usual.

Legendary Skateboarder and Surfer

On Sunday, August 17, 2014, a paddle out was held at Hermosa Beach, California to commemorate the life and to also say goodbye to Jay Adams. Family, friends and surfers totaling more than 40 were on the water, surrounding Jay’s son Seven and almost 55 on land were spectating them say parting words to Jay.

Jay is a legendary skateboarder and surfer who passed away at 53 years old due to a heart attack when he was asleep last August 14, 2014, just three days before. He was on a surfing vacation in Puerto Escondido, Mexico for three months when the unfortunate event happened.

Jay was born on February 3, 1961 in Venice, Los Angeles, California. He grew up with his mother and Kent Sherwood, his stepfather. He is well-known as “The Original Seed” since he was one one of the original members of the Zephyr Competition Team or the Z-Boys skateboarding team. Even at the young age of four years old, he already began skating and surfing. Kent worked at the Dave Sweet’s Surf Shop and there, Jay was introduced to the sports. When he was around 13 years old in 1974, he joined the Zephyr surf team of the Jeff Ho Surfboards and Zephyr Productions, a Santa Monica shop. That was impressive enough, but he was the youngest member as well. There was the Bahne-Cadillac Del Mar Nationals in 1975 and Jay was the first member of the Z-Boys to enter the competition, where he emerged as the third placer in the Junior Men’s Freestyle division. Then he and Kent proceeded to create the brand and team EZ RYDER (now Z-Flex) when the Z-Boys separated ways. An esteemed documentary featured Jay in 2001 with the title Dogtown and Z-Boys. In 2005, there was another film about the Z-Boys and it was the Lords of Dogtown. In the movie, Jay was played by award-winning actor, Emile Hirsch.

Despite a thriving career as he instigated a surfing style in skateboarding, he was still met with many challenges in life. He battled drug addiction and served for a while in jail. Nevertheless, in 2005, he was already free of such obsession and he even became a speaker in local schools for his past ordeals, hoping the children and the youth will not commit those mistakes themselves.

Venice is Jay’s daughter with his first wife Alisha Adams. With his ex-girlfriend Samantha Baglioni, he had a son, Seven. Jay married present wife Tracy Adams on April 16, 2011 at the Etnies skatepark in California and then remarried her in Honolulu, Hawaii.

It is indeed a great loss for both the skateboarding and surfing world that Jay has now departed this life. He established a great connection between the two sports and lived to the fullest everyday. And even with the missteps he had taken, he reflected and changed into a better person for himself and for his family.

You are truly a legend, Jay Adams, and we will forever remember your presence and contributions to skateboarding and surfing!

What You Need To Learn About A Rugby Uniform

Before choosing a rugby uniform it would be really interesting to know a bit about its history and a few general facts as well. The rugby jerseys, it can be said, have undergone an evolution of sorts. In earlier times, players actually made a uniform out of anything they had access to. The players just used their own clothes while the workers’ boots with nails also made for a prominent part of the entire game. The boots with the nails were definitely quite intimidating for the opponents. Players also had their own caps and their own accessories.

Today, besides the adult players, the kids are also quite interested in collecting memorabilia like shirts, caps and other parts of the gear.

A typical jersey comprises shorts with short collar and short sleeves. It carries the names of the player and the team besides the team logo. Rubber buttons were generally used earlier. The names of the various sponsors of teams were also flashed on these jerseys.

As already mentioned above, even kids today are equally enthusiastic like that of the adults when it comes to gathering impressive rugby memorabilia. If you are particularly purchasing shirts for kids then you particularly are not required to pay too much attention to the quality of the material. They can just be bought as keepsakes which are both affordable and fairly satisfactory as far as quality is concerned. Besides the shirts, other merchandise that can be purchased for kids include sun visors, caps as well as hats. If your kids are rugby players (and not only fans) then you should buy proper rugby attire for them. Shirts, shorts, shoes, caps, elbow, shoulder and knee pads (these are all protective pads) are important parts of the entire sportswear.

Stripes are one of the most commonly used designs on rugby jerseys. Cotton was one of the prominent materials, used earlier. Polyester fabrics are more in demand nowadays and not without reasons! Uniforms made of polyester are difficult to grip while tackling. Also, it is easier to play on damp conditions or muddy fields with polyester jerseys on as they absorb lesser water. Another feasible aspect of these polyester jerseys is their prices.

You can now buy your favorite uniforms online as well. Realizing the potential of the internet in the commercial space, brands are actually bringing their products online. You can now compare designs, cuts and prices online just by sitting at home. And yes, you might as well find it difficult to trust the fit of a particular jersey while buying it online. However, you can look up the “return” or “change” policy of a particular company before buying from them.
